The story of the Air Force 1

The Nike Air Force 1 was designed by Bruce Kilgore and came out in 1982 as a basketball shoe. It was the first basketball shoe with Nike Air cushioning in the sole, which was new at the time. Its name refers to Air Force One, the plane of the American president. The shoe quickly moved from the court to the street, and since then it has never really left.

The design is simple and strong. A leather upper with a large Swoosh, perforations on the toe, a strap over the ankle on the High versions, and a thick rubber cupsole with the round pivot pattern underneath.
